I’m in the process of removing Google AdSense from all my sites as, like you, for the amount of time I invest in the stupid program, I make peanuts.

On top of that, I’m sick to death of having to worry about Google banning me from AdSense because I do something wrong without knowing what.

Meanwhile, I’ve slowly converted some of my sites to affiliate networks and, in just a few weeks, am making far more money than I did with AdSense — literally five to ten times more a day!

As AdSense income continues to fall, and I think it is now for a lot of people, more and more will dump it for something better — whether that is affiliates or getting your own advertisers. That is when Google will start to fail as 90 percent of its income still comes from advertising. Personally, as I can’t stand the company, I hope that comes soon :)

In reply to aritra. I think it depends on your skills. If you are writing well, you can earn a lot of money with quality articles without worrying about anything. Making your own website could bring you more money but it could be risky as well, you will have to use your own money to maintain your blog. Till now, I still have to use money from my full-time job to cover fees for this blog. It's very difficult to develop a blog by yourself. :D

It’s very tough now-a-days to get your account approved from Google. I have seen many sites with 2-3k visits per day and whose alexa rank is below 15k but still the site has been banned by Google. But one good news is still manages to earn in 4 figures (in USD). Even Tuan’s Adsense earnings has been decreased. So it’s better not to depend on Adsense anymore.

In reply to Abdul Qoyyuum. Yeah, I know that the conversion rate in email is much higher than banner ads. But I haven't figured out how to take the best of email marketing as many bloggers still can't earn money even when they have a huge list.

I agree with your point more, Michael.
Adsense could not be a good revenue source for many niches but it is still awesome for others, especially when your site has high traffic.
Everybody is talking about building list, however, a big list couldn’t guarantee your success. We will need a smart strategy and provide real value to subscribers.
