I have the same opinion as you, Peter.
But many people don’t want to apply the case because they want to show off their phone. Nobody knows they are using the expensive iPhone or HTC One if it is put in a case. That’s the reason why cases must add more functionalities to attract people. :)

Often times I see people carrying a brand new phone without a protecting case. Even more tragic is when I see some of the phones with cracks on the screens. What a pity… You’ve invested a lot of money buying that phone so why not adding a little extra to buy some protection, right? I mean, it’s not necessarily have to be some expensive cases, I’m sure there are some cheaper ones that look equally good and durable.
