On my HP tower, I am running a dual boot, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and Windows Vista (for those select Windows programs). Then I got the HP Envy DV7 Notebook. It came with Win8. I had it on there for two days, dumped the whole thing and went back to my Ubuntu. I run the Gome 3 customized. It looks great and runs smooth. Software is free! There is no virus problems, or defragging, or any other Windows type problems. Oh, and I don’t have to restart every time I install or update.

I never use Ubuntu nor any Linux.
I use Mac OS – Snow Leopard, Lion, Mountain Lion.
I use(d) Windows – from Windows 3.1, 98, ME, 2000, XP Home, XP Pro, XP 64, Vista 32, 8 CP3 64, 8 Pro 32, 8 Pro 64.
I also use iOS (iPhone) (also Blackberry OS 7).

I don’t really like Lion nor Mountain Lion…
But I think ALL Windows (including the 8) are sucks compared to OS X.
OS Xs are much less effort OS to use than Windows.

The Best OS for me is Snow Leopard.

I am playing around with Ubuntu 12.04 and Mac OSx Moutain Lion theme! So far I’ve been impressed but nothing has compared to Kubuntu 12.04 as far as customizability of the panels and reliability. For real developers-Kubuntu 12.04 is the way to go with VB running MacOSX. Win8 is trying to make things to simple which is okay for most part time users I guess.

HOSEIN… Installation of OS X isn’t hard… sure, if you install it on a mac. even easier than windows or linux.

Amit,
Ubuntu Pros: Booting time is pretty fast,
any application starts within no time,
with little knowledge, can be customized with any device driver,
Finally, you don’t need any anti-virus
Cons: MS office is unavailable – however, this can be done using Wine.
Need to know some what little knowledge in general about any OS – unix is preferred.

OS-X: Pros: as good as any Linux – and more adaptable
Device drivers are almost ready by any product for OS-x
Cons: Owned by Apple, so need to buy expensive products to get one.

Windows: Pros: Nice GUI, works with almost all the device drivers.
Available with cheaper laptops
Cons: Requires long time to boot – as it is bloating software to add all software.

I’m a ubuntu 12.04 user , I think it’s really better than win8 because i love themes and beautiful icon and really win8 don’t have them ! but always I loved mac’s (OSX’s) interface , but insallation of osx is toooooooooooooooo harder than windows and linux . thanks for great post . (excuse me for my bad english im asian !)

I chose unity for several reazon, the lenses, an the integration of webapps to the desktop, really make it smooth, to W( i will say, looks got for a tablet, but for my Pc…..

Feels like a Microsoft ad to tell you the truth.

That you installed Win 8 in Boot Camp and now primarily use that on your Mac instead of OS X and that you are sticking with Lion (not Mountain Lion which you would have had to upgrade to in order to review it) until it is no longer supported?

I call total B.S. on this one. Fess up or lose readers.
